Adopting a Horse from Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue
Once a horse has physically recovered and completed our mandatory training program, he or she is ready to be adopted. This is where you come in. Not only are you giving one special horse a new lease on life - you also help us make space for another horse in need.
We will disclose all and any information we have on your horse. We will do everything in our power to ensure the horse is a suitable match to your capabilities and expectations. Our goal is to send every horse off to their forever home.
But, it doesn't end with us delivering your horse. We will follow up to see how you are coping. We may schedule a follow up visit. We are here to answer your post-adoption questions or address your concerns. And, we hope to receive periodic updates from you.
Please know: We will assist you if needed. For new horse owners or inexperienced riders, lessons with the potential adoptive horse can be arranged at WHHR to ensure you are ready to take your horse home.
We do receive multiple applications for some of our horses and while we do not adopt on a first come first serve basis, we do adopt to the first suitable home available. If you want the best chance to meet the horse of your first choice, it's important that you get your application submitted at the earliest opportunity.
When you see a horse on the Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue website that you think would be a good fit for you, the first step is to check out The Adoption Process, our Horses Waiting for Adoption and submit an Adoption Application. You may have questions about the horse but please be assured that there is no commitment to adopt by either yourself or the rescue until all your questions have been answered, you have met and spent some time with the horse, and it is mutually agreed that the horse is a good choice for your situation.
Even if you don't see a horse in our listing of Adoptable Horses that matches what you're looking for, we encourage you to submit an Adoption Application. Horses become available for adoption as their health and training improves. If we feel that one of those horses would be a good choice for you based on your Adoption Application, we will contact you to arrange a meeting.
